We knew instinctively this day was coming. Today was the day. When I opened our Cellar Door emails I saw what we were dreading might happen: “The Willamette Valley closing down for 2-weeks.”
The email stated, “From November 18 to December 2, Oregon will be in a statewide Two-Week Freeze to stop the rapid spread of COVID-19 across Oregon.”
What this means is pretty simple really. If you had plans to visit Oregon’s Wine Country and go wine tasting in The Willamette Valley over the Thanksgiving Day Weekend, you’re pretty much out of luck. Tasting rooms are not allowed to host guests in their tasting rooms starting Wednesday, November 28th.
In response to this temporary Willamette Valley closing, tasting rooms will be offering online sales and curbside sales/pickup service for the next 2-weeks with an assumption of re-opening for tastings again on December 3rd. We recommend calling each winery tasting rooms just to make sure what their open status entails before heading out.
